Hamilton
Hamilton was all for the rich backing the government. He felt that the states had too much power and that the federal government didn't have enough power. He also believed that the federal government should have the right to tax people. He argued that the implied constitutional powers could be used to fund the national debt. He believed that the government should be all about circulating money and keeping us out of debt and then the peoples rights came second. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzH7mGt0VDE
Jefferson
Jefferson was a huge advocate for states rights and also the rights of the people. He was very against a strong centralized government as that took the power away from the people. One of Jefferson's biggest worries was that a strong federal government would have too much power. He instead tried to give power to the states over the federal as this would keep the peoples' rights in order. He was against the federal government as he thought that any man can solve problems in society on his own. Jefferson even went as far as saying that "government is a necessary evil." He believed that government should be by and for the people. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7faOy5PcJ2c
